"The staff couldn't have been more helpful"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Patient Transport Service Western General Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

Having been diagnosed with a urine infection I was transferred to Ward 57 from the Royal Infirmary for a catheter change when doctor decided it would be better done on ward than in emergency unit as quite complex. Although only in for a couple of days, the staff couldn't have been more helpful in keeping my partner informed of progress, providing additional resources such as an air bed for me - I'm bedbound and have one at home - sorting out medications and keeping me clean and comfortable, Despite the circumstances it was a positive experience and grateful to all - including the Patient Transport guys, who made it as untraumatic as possible.

Dear elephantlover,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I’m responding on behalf of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

I’m glad to hear that the Patient Transport staff helped make your journey as untraumatic as possible. We understand how important it is for patients to feel safe and supported, especially when dealing with complex health needs and I’m pleased that this was reflected in your experience.

Thanks again for sharing your experience.

Warm wishes,

Marie

Dear elephantlover,

Thank you so much for the positive feedback you have given us following your stay on Ward 57. I am happy to hear that you found all the staff to be kind, caring and supportive during your stay. We always strive to provide a high standard of person centred care, and it is great to hear that we were able to make your stay more comfortable by ensuring your individual needs were met. I hope you are recovering well at home and will pass on your feedback to the rest of the team.

Many thanks, Amy
