"Care for my dad"

About: District Nursing / Omagh Omagh Primary Care Complex / Palliative care

(as a carer),

My dad was sent home due to his cancer and being unable to do anything further for him. The experience within the hospital setting had left me to become very over protective of my dad and when we returned home with him we accepted help from the district nurses only.

It wasn’t until near the end we trusted and allowed the palliative team to be involved. This is where I met Bronnie, for the short time that I did she was such a kind, caring person and very personal and respectful towards my dad and family.

As I said after dad had past away I wish we had met Bronnie at the start of dad's journey at the hospital, as I know my family's feelings towards their support would have been different. I wish if other families that felt the way we did get to meet Bronnie and deal with her as she was able to change my family's perspective and feelings in the short time we had met her. We can’t thank her enough for being so kind and patient with us all.

Dear Sarahc87,

My name is Michelle Scott Patient Client Experience lead for the Western Trust.

My sincere condolences to you and the wider family on the loss of your father and we apologies in the delay responding back to your story which we are very thankful and grateful to receive. I have shared your story with all relevant teams mentioned in your feedback, liaising with colleagues in the Trust both in community and hospital settings.

I believe Bronnie works in the hospice and a colleague Emma King who works with hospice services has shared your feedback with her and naturally delighted to hear you felt she was kind and patient with everyone putting you at ease. Your feedback has been gratefully received and listened to.

we wish you and your family all the very best

kindest regards

Michelle Scott
