"When I became ill on holiday"

About: Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance University Hospital Hairmyres / Cardiology

(as the patient),

While on holiday I was out walking the dogs when I started to feel unwell, I got back to our rental property and was feeling much worse by then. My wife phoned 999 who advised me taking aspirin while we waited for an ambulance.

The paramedics were amazing and so efficient in getting me to Hairmyres Hospital. On arriving there I was taken straight in to a room where nurses and doctors were waiting to fit a stent.

I was on the ward when my wife got to the hospital, everyone was so efficient and so caring, I can’t thank all the staff enough for what they did for me and supportive to my wife from the ambulance paramedics to all the staff in Hairmyres even the ladies bringing round the food.

There are only a few names that I remember, but thank you Susan, Sarah , Simone and Kirsten, to name but a few for all that you did.

Dear Fred and Finn

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding the care you received whilst on holiday. It must have been a really worrying time for you and your wife especially as you were away from home.

As Marie says, your comments will be widely shared and much appreciated by all. Susan, Sarah, Simone and Kirsten will also be delighted to read that themselves and others were supportive and caring.

Staff reflect on experiences shared and learn from them, so thank you again.

Wishing you all the very best in your recovery

Kind regards

Lise
