My mum was admitted in September 2024, one of several admissions over the years. While A&E was extremely busy, the charge nurse Fiona went over and above and was constantly in checking on my mum, even something as simple as that cup of tea and biscuits went such a massive way in someone so frail and unwell. The whole team were brilliant, even with the massive challenges they faced that night due to the volume of people in the department.
Unfortunately, in the early hours we got the phone call we had been dreading and she had passed before our arrival. The night shift nurses and health care support workers in ward 15 and the hospital at night service did their absolute best for her but unfortunately she couldn't keep going. When we arrived the staff were so caring and made what was a horrible experience as bearable as they could under the circumstances both in terms of the practical advice and emotional support to myself and my family and I can't thank them enough for that. My massive thanks to Tasha and the rest of her colleagues for that night although my brain pretty much shut down and names are escaping me.
The mortuary team have been so accommodating throughout the entire process, genuinely brilliant people and as much as it was such a shock, they've been absolutely brilliant with my family throughout when viewing prior to being taken into the care of the funeral directors.
"Amazing care from all the staff"
