"Disabled car parking recommendations"

About: GPs in Southport and Formby

(as a service user),

For the Covid and flu jabs I require disabled  parking facilities . I am directed to an address at a chemist's at 34, Shakespeare  St, Southport, Merseyside where it states there is parking . This chemist's is positioned by a mini roundabout,  there is no carpark but one can drive over the kerb onto the shop front where there is space for maybe 2 cars.  This is not, to my mind, a car park and there is no designated disabled bay . The positioning on a mini roundabout and the fact one has to drive over the pavement, does not  constitute a car park let alone a disabled bay . Getting onto and off this space, on a very busy roadway, is a hazard apart from the illegality of having to cross an non dropped kerb . So to advise patients to use this chemist's as one with designated disabled parking is stretching the facts too far. Nobody from the NHS can have assessed the situation as to the appropriation of carparking being available at this site.  It is both illegal and hazardous to park within 15 metres (if one could find a space ) of this site.
