"With the help of positive thinking I began to feel less worthless"

About: Inclusion Thurrock (Talking Therapies)

(as a service user),

A long story but basically I was made redundant from my job due to a take over which dragged on for over a year. I was not I was no longer needed but had to work till the end of the summer term. I tried to continue to work in a job which they said was no longer required, surrounded by people who either gave me strange looks, ignored me completely as they probably didn’t know what to say while senior management just excluded me from meetings/decisions or daily updates as though I had already left.

After a few weeks I could take no more and my doctor signed me off with stress and anxiety and the details to contact MIND. That is where I was lucky enough to be paired with a wonderful lady-Mabel. She listened to me, guided me, taught me ways to believe in myself and stop doubting myself. With our weekly telephone conversations I learnt that not everything is my fault and with the help of positive thinking and arranging my days and time I began to feel less worthless and that I did have something to offer. This wonderful, kind, knowledgeable and compassionate lady helped me change from the sad, doubting person I had become to a more confident (still working on that one!) and happier person that I hadn’t been for a long time. Yes, some of my anxiety is still there but I now know how to deal with it. And with encouragement and help from Mabel I am aiming to start my own business….something I never thought I would be capable of. Everything I am now is thanks to Mabel and I can never thank her enough❤️
