"Antenatal Clinic and confusion over walk in apt"

About: Southern Health & Social Care Trust / Southern Trust Vaccination Service

(as a service user),

I just had my RSV vaccine today, the nurse was fantastic at her job. However, the clinic is advertised as a walk in, even with an appointment I had to wait an hour, as did all the other women. This is unfair on the women along with the staff of CAH. Maybe more staff needed to help an under pressure service?

Dear tangomy86, thank you for sharing your recent experience at one of our antenatal vaccination clinics and providing some insight on behalf of other women who may have experienced something similar. We very much welcome service user feedback to help inform and improve our vaccination services here in the Southern Trust. I am pleased that you found your experience with the vaccinator 'fantastic,’ and I will share this feedback with her.

Encouragingly, we have observed an increase in women attending for vaccination in the last couple of weeks and we anticipate this to continue as we move into the autumn and winter seasons. As a result, we are reviewing how we can improve our service with the funding available and we strongly encourage our service users to book an appointment Antenatal vaccinations available | Southern Health & Social Care Trust

I am sorry that you were not taken at your scheduled booking time, and you had to wait. We endeavour to provide a high-quality service to each woman attending the vaccination clinic, with some requiring more time and support than others which unintentionally causes delays. Whilst we do welcome ‘drop ins’ to our clinic, we also advise that they may need to wait, or alternatively they can make a booking online or via our dedicated enquiry line Tel: 02837560300 (Mon-Fri 09:30am-12:30pm).

Please be assured your feedback along with other service users will be taken into consideration as we continuously review and improve our services.

Regards,

Sharon Kerr

Lead Nurse, Trust Vaccination Service, SHSCT.
