I received a phone call last week and was given 5 days notice for my diagnostic laparoscopy procedure for endometriosis. I had been waiting on this for a couple of years so was relieved to be going ahead with the procedure. The day before, I received a phone call to say it could not go ahead due to my pre-existing heart condition and not having clearance from cardiology due to a recent referral made by my GP. I called the ward and I was still on the list so took a chance and went on the morning I was due to have my procedure carried out.
The team at ward 7 PRI were exceptional, my surgical team spoke to me regarding the cardiology miscommunication and went above and beyond their call of duty and contacted my consultant to get the go ahead for my laparoscopy procedure to take place. I was diagnosed with endometriosis and had it treated.
I honestly can not thank the whole team enough. The person centred care I received was exceptional. I was listened to and treated with such dignity and respect at all times. From the student nurse, HCA’s, volunteer, theatre staff to my consultants…they all deserve so much praise and recognition.
Thank you ward 7 PRI, you made a very difficult, stressful ordeal much more bearable and I’m forever grateful!
