"Physio group course has transformed my recovery"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Cancer Services

(as the patient),

I had had surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy for endometrial cancer and was badly affected by the treatments. I struggled to regain health and strength and suffered greatly with fatigue.

I joined an 8 week Physiotherapy group course, set up and run by Rachel at Ottery St Mary hospital. The physio exercises we did every week together and the ones we were given to continue with at home during that time (and since) have helped me enormously. I have regained so much strength, confidence and energy.

Rachel also talked us through the effects of our treatment and the best way to manage the fatigue as we moved forward. I cannot overstate how helpful this was and how the understanding I gained through this, enabled me to be more balanced in my recovery period (which is still on-going), and to manage and reduce the fatigue significantly.

I am so enormously grateful to Rachel and her team for their on-going support, encouragement and positivity. It has truly transformed these past months for me.

Thank you so much for this feedback. I'm so glad to hear how the interventions have especially helped with your fatigue, as this is something we are continually striving to improve our input for. I will pass on your feedback to the rest of the team also.

All the best with your ongoing recovery

Rachel
