"They deserve praise becasue of how good they were"

About: New Stobhill Hospital / Dental Service

(as a parent/guardian),

I have a son who is disabled and I have had ups and downs with the NHS in the past.

We went to the Dental department where they were going to try sedation for my son due to the behavioural issues he can display.

When we arrived, his heckles went up, so I was trying to calm him down.

One of the nurses remembered he likes Power Rangers, and they then got it up on their phone. This immediately started to calm my son down.

He watched Power Rangers in the background which helped and avoided a full blown meltdown.

The team were like a well oiled machine.

I've never experienced this before. It was brilliant, and the appointment was quicker as he cooperated.

It was lovely to watch.

They deserve praise becasue of how good they were. If I could have given you all a gold star, I would have.

Hi xxjey83

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with the Public Dental Service. I understand that attending appointments can be challenging, especially when additional needs are involved and we are truly grateful you chose to share your story.

It’s wonderful to hear how the team recognised your son’s interests and used this to help him feel more comfortable. The fact that a nurse remembered his love for Power Rangers and used it to help calm him is a fantastic example of person-centred care in action. We know how important these small, thoughtful gestures can be in making a big difference to a patient’s experience.

Your kind words about the team being “like a well-oiled machine” and deserving a gold star will mean so much to them. I will make sure your feedback is shared with everyone involved and I know they will be delighted to know their efforts had such a positive impact on both you and your son.

Thank you again for your lovely feedback.

Kind Regards,

Catherine
