As the grandfather of a highly vulnerable young lad who is neurodivergent, any visit to a facility hosting the general public is often viewed with concern.
He is hypersensitive to noise and can easily become overwhelmed so the prospect of attending hospital for invasive surgery can be fraught with anxiety not only for the procedure but also for the time spent from the first step walking in to the hospital to the moment at which the general anaesthetic kicks in and allows blessed escape.
Not so at Stobhill Hospital though, met by Morag we were quietly led to a section of the day ward set aside specifically for him and isolated from background noise.
From there on in my grandson was given preferential treatment which private health care has failed to match.
Numerous members of staff were involved in his care including but not limited to his anaesthetist; consultant surgeon and personal attendant Adi.
Each and every member of staff involved in his care was outstanding and a credit to their profession.
On his behalf I wish to thank everyone in the day surgery unit that day.
Kind regards
Papa
