"Having a uterine polyp removed"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I was quite nervous about this procedure, so opted to have gas and air right from the start. The senior registrar (as he introduced himself, I didn't catch his name) started the procedure. It was bearable to start with, but got more uncomfortable, his hands were huge! I could feel his hand touching my rectal area which I didn't expect. After a few more minutes, though it seemed a lot longer of him trying to get to my cervix, I asked the nurse stood at the side of me what was happening, she said they were trying to find my cervix. Another few minutes went by, then that registrar seemed to give up, then the woman took over, obviously more experienced she found my cervix with, it seemed, very little problem, with her hands being so much smaller than the other ones, it was not as uncomfortable and I did not feel the pressure on my rectal area.

I have had some rectal bleeding since this procedure which I think are haemorrhoids made worse by the first part of the procedure.
