"Helped me to get back into recovery"

About: HMP Leicester / Substance Misuse Service

(as a service user),

When I came back into prison on recall on my I.P.P sentence after I had relapsed when in the community, I felt a failure, and was so broken following two family deaths and I was suicidal and felt like I was just a problem.

The Substance Misuse Team here at here at HMP Leicester all supported me and worked with me to get me back onto medication and in recovery.

I now feel that I have a future and a reason to live and although I still have down days, I know I can call Holly or any of the team for support if and when I need it, and they will come and support me to help keep me in recovery. I take it one day at a time, but I see a positive future and I am also giving peer support to my fellow prisoners which make me feel a positive feeling of self worth, encouraging others to seek support from the SMT and attend groups that will help with their recovery too!

I could not express how much Holly and the SMT have helped me to get back into recovery and see a positive future that is worth living.

Thank you.
