"Positive Birthing Experience"

About: Borders General Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I cannot fault the midwifery team at Borders General Hospital one bit. I was admitted to ward 16 following signs of pre eclampsia, the decision was then made to induce me.  Dealing with health anxiety, I felt very stressed but every single midwife and doctor reassured me every step of the way.

From the first time I visited labour ward and ward 16 until the minute I left after birthing my baby boy, I have felt nothing but safe and extremely happy with the high standard of care I received. I had a beautiful natural birth and felt very much comfortable and at ease with Nicole during my the start of my labour and during my contractions, her kindness and compassion meant nothing but the absolute world to me. Nothing was ever too much to ask for, and she went completely above and beyond for me.

Delivering my baby was not an easy ride I can say that for sure, but Beth’s encouragement and lovely caring manner helped push me through. I will forever be grateful for Beth not only helping me deliver my baby, but the caring manner she used towards my boy and constantly being interested in his wellbeing. After labour I stayed an extra night due to complications and Beth could see how exhausted I was, she definitely went above and beyond allowing me to rest and taking care of my boy like he was her own. I have never felt more reassured by someone in my whole life.

Thank you so much Beth. I cannot begin to describe how thankful I am to each and every single midwife I crossed paths with. You are all so dedicated to your jobs and it is lovely to see you all deliver such outstanding care. You are all such lovely genuine people and I don’t think I could have got through my birthing experience without you all. I am an extremely lucky girl to have had such great support throughout the whole time of being in labour ward and the maternity ward.

I would lastly like to say a massive massive thank you to Lindsay. Lindsay you are fantastic at your job and I appreciate you so so much. From every update you gave me and advocating to get me through to labour ward quicker, to updating my mum every step of the way to then also being by my side the whole time I was in theatre. I cannot quite begin to even tell you how grateful I am. You reassured me so much and it didn’t go unnoticed. Your positivity made a massive impact on me it brought my anxiety down significantly. You all have the kindest souls and again I cannot thank you all enough.
