"Long wait for urgent referral"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Breast Services

(as a relative),

Disappointed that my partner attended her gp practice who were very timely and accommodating and referred her to the breast clinic as an urgent referral and was advised a six week wait for urgent suspicion of cancer. As you can imagine this is a stressful situation to be in and any wait is anxiety provoking.

After not having heard anything my partner called to query and was told the urgent list was currently sat at 14 weeks. We have had no communication from the clinic despite this being weeks ago and feel this is unfair and are deeply stressed at the potential outcomes.

Can you advise if NHS Grampian has any contingency plan to address the issue especially if urgent referrals for such a cause are of this time frame to wait, any information guidance and advice is most welcomed

Good afternoon footballrt58

I am sorry to hear about your partner's wait for an urgent breast appointment and understand how stressful it can be while waiting for a hospital appointment. I am unable to comment on individual cases via Care Opinion, so would be grateful if your partner could contact us with their name, date of birth, address and contact details. We will investigate and respond directly. Please contact us via email - gram.womensservices@nhs.scot

Kind regards

Sarah
