"Why was I not phoned?"

About: General practices in Forth Valley

(as a relative),

My husband visited the GP practice due to becoming unwell with an infection. On the day a locum doctor took bloods and gave him antibiotics.

I phoned following day as. I was concerned. I was told his CRP was 50 (which is dangerously high) and there was a note saying that my husband was to finish antibiotics and come back in a week.

I phoned FVRH and was told to bring my husband in to AAU where he was admitted.

I was left with a number of questions: Why was it up to me to follow up blood results? Why was I not phoned? Why did they not think to communicate with us to get him admitted?
