"Excellent care"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

I want to say a massive thank you to the medical and nursing staff at A&E Hairmyres Hospital for the excellent care given to my mum over the last few days. Dr Hunter and Consultant Dr Mulholland were fantastic. Dr Hunter has a very calming presence which made my mum feel safe and looked after, she took her time getting all relevant medical history and symptoms and kept us informed at all times, excellent patient care. Dr Mulholland also had a great rapport with my mum and explained everything fully with a great sense of humour too.

My mum had never been in hospital and is usually the main carer for my dad and was extremely frightened of what could have been going on with her, this fear was helped tremendously by the way in which the staff treated her during her time in the A&E area, the nurse we saw was exceptional also, so kind and helpful and always on the go, health care support workers and day shift nurses that came on before my mum's discharge were all lovely.

Whoever is in charge of the A&E department should be very proud of the staff they have within it as it shows in the patient care. A team night out is def on the cards.

Dear Debby,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience through Care Opinion.

I’m sorry to hear that your mother was feeling unwell and needed to attend hospital. It’s lovely to hear that she felt safe and reassured under the care of Dr Hunter, Dr Mulholland, and the A&E team.

Our nursing and medical teams strive to deliver person-centred care, and it’s heartening to know that this was reflected in your mother’s experience.

I will ensure your kind feedback is shared with the team.

Kind regards,
Shirley-Anne
