A & E:-
Over the past few years, I have suffered from paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, resulting in me being admitted to A & E and ward 5 (Cardio) (more so in the last 6 months). Each time, the staff at A & E were tremendous. Despite the inherent urgency and pressure of an emergency setting, the entire team, from the reception staff to the triage nurses, nurses in general, doctors and support staff, were all thoroughly efficient and caring. They exceeded my expectations in every way. I was seen promptly upon arrival, having been triaged correctly.
Every time (and there were many), the doctors were extremely efficient and demonstrated exceptional knowledge, patience and skill. They always made sure that I was back in normal sinus rhythm, before discharging me or admitted me to Ward 5, to be seen by the Cardiology team the following morning.
When there were no beds in the wards (sadly now and then), the A & E staff made sure that I was comfortable (proper sleeping bed brought in, to replace a treatment type bed) and I was put in a side room where the lights could be put out. This all created a better sleeping situation, which is not easy in a busy A & E Department! The staff always made sure that I had enough to eat and drink throughout my time in A & E. This type of care is essential as well!
Ward 5:-
I was transferred to Ward 5, from A & E on a few occasions, especially in the past 6 months. Each time that I spent time there, as an inpatient in Ward 5, I received outstanding care. From the admission procedure to the discharge, the experience was one of professionalism, hard working ethos and staff who genuinely cared. The Manger Laura, was exceptional in all ways. She was highly motivated, efficient, thorough and skilled. I've been admitted to one or two other wards, but Ward 5 was completely different in relation to the experience of complete professionalism, satisfaction and efficiency. Every basic need was attended to with due care and attention. There was no complacency and high standards were kept, at all times. The ward was kept spotless and the day-to-day care of the patients was superb. The support staff/day-time staff were also caring and attentive (and very cheery indeed), we all looked forward to Stephen and Angela coming in, in the morning! I am incredibly grateful to the entire team and can't thank them enough for their excellent care.
The Cardiology Dept:-
I want to thank the Cardiology Doctors and Consultants for their excellent, professional and dedicated care and attention. Dr. Neary and Dr. Ahmad were always exceptional. My condition and treatments were always clearly explained to me, making sure that I fully understood. When complex treatment decisions were to be made, Doctors Neary and Ahmad were thorough, patient and understanding. I always felt that I was being treated by a team of highly experienced professionals, who genuinely cared about getting the best outcome for their patients. Thank you.
"Superb care and attention"
