I recently gave birth to my baby girl at the Royal Jubilee Maternity Hospital in Belfast, and I truly couldn’t have asked for better care. I arrived at the hospital in active labour and was seen by Sarah at the MAU, who was incredibly reassuring and went out of her way to make me comfortable during the examination, even arranging a portable gas and air tank, as I had previously found VEs quite intense.
Following the assessment, I was transferred to the ABC and cared for by two fantastic midwives, Louise and Claire (I hope I’ve spelled that correctly!). They made my birth such a positive and memorable experience. Although everything happened quickly, my daughter was born within 30 minutes of entering the room, they kept me calm and encouraged me to listen to my body. Their support and kindness made all the difference.
After the birth, they took wonderful care of both me and my family. I especially appreciated being able to stay in the same private room until discharge the next day, which meant my husband could remain with me and our baby throughout.
When the night shift ended, we were looked after by Christina, who was equally amazing. She was so supportive and went above and beyond to ensure everything was in place for us to be discharged and return home together.
Thank you all so much for making our experience so special, we are deeply grateful!
