About: Gynaecology / Gynaecology Oncology Perth Royal Infirmary / General Surgery Perth Royal Infirmary / Gynaecology Perth Royal Infirmary / Pre-Assessment Clinic

(as a service user),

My incredible uplifting life affirming cancer journey so far with Ninewells Hospital, Dundee

I first attended an outpatient gynaecology appointment at Ninewells in August with and incredible consultant, Doctor Dwale.

I had never had children had any gynaecology issues he was incredible so gentle warm kind explained everything he was doing with such gentleness and explanation he was completely honest told me his concern was that he had potentially identifies I had cancer .

8 days late he called me again wiry such compassion kindness honesty to advise I had uterine cancer and guided me through what the procedure would be robotic full hysterectomy and what it entailed

Astonishingly, I got a call to go to PRI  for pre-op tests, and that my procedure was happening 4 days later.

The day came and the care compassion from reception onwards was outstanding

I had no idea what expect every single interaction was done with such humanity kindness so warm loving so much care.

Then I met Dr Ragupathy an amazing lady she went through everything with total honesty so gently so kindly with such compassion as I got rather upset as had never had experience of surgery before I was on my own. She held my hand gave me so much reassurance she had never net me before but it was like I was her priority she explained everything that gave me so much confidence and when she held my hand I knew she cared.

Happened very fast as I was moved from third to first in her list. Trolley came the two nurses outside theatre were incredible one of them knew my home town so well was so excited to talk to me about my birth town the area we laughed I cried she was adorable and have me so much courage

The theatre team were so lovely so personable they even showed me leonardo my tobot we had fun together they put me at such ease

I went under calmly with no tears .when I came round it was incredible I felt amazing zero pain euphoric happy lucid the care I got on ward 36 expecting I was on such a high

Mrs Ragupathy has saved my life she is an incredible human being her expert care her surgery means I came home next day. I have had no pain at all no bleeding my wounds have healed remarkably. I'm on week 4.5 I've looked after myself with zero help the whole time. It has been the most fascinating amazing uplifting experience of my life totally surreal but filled with so much human kindness from start to finish and Ninewells gynae Mrs Ragupathy forever I am humbled so grateful in your debt forever and wherever my treatment goes next I know I'm in the hands of Angels, you're all so incredible and forever I'm in ur debt all my thanks deepest gratitude forever and always.
