"Nothing was too much bother for them"

About: Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital / Accident & Emergency (Emergency Care) Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital / Surgical Paediatrics (Children's Surgery)

(as a parent/guardian),

My teenage son broke his arm, since then we have visited the Aberdeen Children's Hospital 3 times -  once to A&E and twice to the surgical ward, once overnight.

I really want to feedback that with no exceptions, all staff members, consultants, nurses (all levels) the anaesthetists, were all wonderful, especially the nurses in the surgical ward, nothing was too much bother for them, we were kept informed at all times, they made us feel that they were happy to be helping us.

I work for the NHS, and know that this is not everyone's experience, I hope this can be fed back to someone who can let the ward know how very grateful we are, my son even commented on how nice everyone was. My mother came up to sit for a while and commented on how wonderful the nurses were.

The orthopaedic doctors were also great, again keeping us informed, explaining everything to us, and the anaesthetists  were wonderful, they put my son at ease, were happy and cheerful. All in all, at very stressful time for us, they made the whole experience a lot easier on us.

Thank you so much for getting in touch with this great feedback. This means such alot to staff to hear the positive impact their care has had on your family. If you are happy to do so could you e-mail me your sons name (sue.danby@nhs.scot) so I can share with the teams. This means I can direct your feedback to the team members who directly cared for him - making the message even more personal to them.

Hope your son is making good progress now he is back home.

Kind Regards

Sue Danby
