"They have been brilliant"

About: DHU Healthcare CIC / NHS 111 Urgent Community Response / Virtual Ward Service

(as a relative),

My husband was in a care home for a weeks respite and when he came home I was concerned how lethargic he was and he couldn't communicate very well. From previous experience I was convinced he had a urinary infection. I rang 111 and described his symptoms and the Doctor was really thoughtful and advised virtual ward to come and check him over they came the same day and checked everything. They have been every day since. He has now been discharged and put in the care of the district nurses. I cannot praise virtual ward too highly they have been brilliant. Thank you.

Good afternoon, Sagg46

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experience.

We are sorry to hear about the concerns you had when your husband returned home from respite, and we understand how worrying this must have been for you.

We are really pleased to hear that when you rang 111 our DHU NHS111 team were able to respond so quickly including referral to the Virtual Ward team in your area to ensure your husband received the care he needed.

We always endeavor to provide a high level of care and the best service possible for our patients.

However, if you can we would appreciate you sharing your comments with our Clinical Governance team, with as much detail as you can (e.g., date and time) so that they might identify the member of staff within our NHS111 service who received your initial call and share your words with them. You can contact them via telephone on 0300 1000 407 9am-5pm weekdays (or leave a voicemail if you wish) or e-mail DHUL.ClinicalGovernance@nhs.net.

We wish your husband all the very best in his ongoing care and recovery and thank you once again for taking the time to provide your feedback through Care Opinion.

Best wishes,

Judith Brown

Patient Engagement and Experience Manager (DHU Health Care)

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with the Virtual Ward team.

We’re truly pleased to hear that your husband received timely and compassionate care following your concerns. It’s reassuring to know that the team was able to respond quickly, provide daily support, and help stabilise his condition before handing over to the district nursing service.

Your kind words mean a great deal to the team, and we’ll make sure they are shared with everyone involved in your husband’s care. Feedback like yours helps us continue to improve and reminds us why we do what we do.

Wishing you and your husband all the very best.
