Having experienced swallowing/choking difficulties as a result of recently diagnosed Parkinson's disease, I was assessed by an expert and friendly team led by Melanie who organised a video fluoroscopy in order to see what was actually happening within my throat when swallowing food.
Following that procedure a number of exercises were advised and general advice given about making meal times less problematic and safer.
I was reassured by this advice and have already noticed subtle improvements and reduced episodes of choking whilst at the same time remaining aware of the very real possibility thanks to the advice given.
I have nothing but praise for Melanie and the team and I thank them for their advice, guidance and reassurance.
