"A loss of my speaking and singing voice"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Speech and Language Therapy

(as the patient),

I developed a difficulty in speaking at any length, especially on the phone and my singing range was reduced. I sing in a large classical choir and it is a very important hobby. After checks at the hospital I began speech therapy with Joanna. I had confidence in Joanna straight away as she was supportive and understood my needs in speaking and singing. She gave me clear and helpful exercises to carry out at home. At the next session she encouraged me greatly by telling me my voice was improving. Joanne then gave me different exercises to carry out and I continued to improve over the next 3 sessions.

At the last Session Joanna told me that I could begin singing again and my speaking voice had recovered. We sang together at this session which felt like a warm, sharing experience. I can't thank Joanna enough for her caring, professional support with both my speaking and singing voice.

Dear pagernr99

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback about your experience of speech and language therapy. I'm very pleased that you found it positive, with Joanna supporting you to regain your voice.

I will of course pass on your feedback to her, I'm sure it will make her day!

With very best wishes,
