"I just can't get over how good they are"

About: District Nursing / District Nursing - Ballymena East

(as the patient),

I had a colostomy in March, when the hospital took my staples out my wound opened so bad that I needed to have a vac machine. On getting home I had to have the district nurses to attend me 3 times a week. They were Paul, Nicole, Jason & Adele, they are still attending me, although it's getting loads better thanks to them. They are the best team and I am so grateful to have them. There has been times when I got down but with their help and talking to me they made me feel better. We have had some laughs. I just can't get over how good they are. Love them loads.

Hello Leo0465, My name is Sadie Campbell, Consultant District Nurse. Thank you for taking the time to send us your story.

I am sorry to hear you have been in hospital and have had a major operation. I am glad to hear you are improving and your wound is healing well with the help and support of Paul, Jason, Nicole and Adele. I will ensure your Care Opinion message is passed to them promptly.

I am also delighted to hear you have had some good laughs too! That's important as part of your healing journey and providing psychological support to patients is an important role for nurses in their overall person centred care. Take care and thank you kindly.
