Last week I was admitted to Ninewells Hospital for an elective splenectomy.
The operation was carried out by Mr Tait, who I cannot thank enough for getting me in so urgently and following me up daily on the ward. Thank you so much to my Anaesthetist, Ronan, Registrar, Miranda and anaesthetic nurse Bev, who treated me with care, compassion and dignity at all times. Thank you to my theatre team, Nicola and Maggie. Thank you to Paula and Graeme in recovery who made sure I was comfortable at all times.
I stayed in ward 11 for 6 nights and the care there was excellent, all of the staff were so friendly and helpful at all times, day or night, especially my nurses Emily, Danielle, Fola, Dawn and Aanu. Also thank you to Fiona the pharmacist who ensured I was getting the correct combination of medications. None of this would have been possible without the Haematology Department - Rachel, the specialist nurse (who is worth her weight in gold), Dr Kerr and Dr McLaughlin who always take my concerns seriously and made me feel involved in my own care. Thank you also to Danielle for running the samples to the lab!
Thank you to all of the staff in the Haematology Day Area and Ward, nothing is too much to ask of them and they all go above and beyond for their patients. Special thanks to Zoe and Sarah.
