I have MS. I have an appointment with my MS nurse about twice a year and these are important to me so I can vent/get her advice.
I'm having a relapse so I couldn't attend, so Claire, my MS nurse, arranged a video call where we were able to chat for 30 minutes where I told her all of my symptoms. She was able to arrange for me to get help for chronic constipation from a trial they had been given in her office. I arranged for my son to pick it up. She also told me to contact Udston Neuro Rehab Dept for issues with my hand- it was quicker for me than her to do this.
The next day Claire phoned me to tell me she'd been worried about me all night and that she was going to drop the constipation thingy into me. I told her not to be daft-I know how busy they are! This is a long winded way of saying how dedicated and caring she was to me , at a very difficult time for me. I know I can always contact MS services for advice and they always are on hand for help. I often feel that MS is often a forgotten disease and I just want to thank Claire and the team.
Udston Neuro Rehab were great too. I called, left a message and Moira, a physio, got back to me. They were really busy too but she sent Lucia to me with a hand splint and advice and encouragement. I find it difficult to get out so this was a god send.
While I'm here I might as well give plaudits to my GP- Wellhall Medical Centre. I often need antibiotics fairly quickly and I get everything I need quickly.
Long winded I know! All you ever hear is bad things about the NHS but I wanted to share some of my positive experiences. There are a lot of really dedicated and caring people who do their absolute best for people like me and we should appreciate them. A huge thank you from me
"A lot of really dedicated and caring people"
