"Treatment for my son"

About: General practices in Fife

(as a parent/guardian),

It seems whenever you need to see or talk to my doctors, you don't meet the requirement. Once again I had to put an online form in for my son, all I got is being told I have to contact the neurodiversity team. I was confused on why. Yes, he has autism, but when he is choking and having breathing issues, so why would they not want to see my son, it could be serious. I did call the neurodiversity team who was confused too, as they said they could help with him not sleeping but the symptoms I told them said it sounded like sleep apnoea which they don’t deal with. So now I’m trying to find ways to help my child as my local doctors does not seem to care.

Hello leatherzj79

My name is Shelley McBain and I am the Service Manager for Primary Care. I am sorry to read your feedback and that you feel that your local GP does not seem to care about your son. I would like to try to support you, if possible. If you could please drop me an email (shelley.mcbain2@nhs.scot) and I will see if I can help in any way.

Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you

Shelley
