I have recently been discharged from Doncaster Aspire at Roslyn house, where I admitted myself a year ago due to feeling suicidal which was made worse with my reckless drinking habits. Over the past year I have seen myself go from a depressed lonely man who couldn’t look at himself in the mirror and was about to lose the most important things in his life, to someone who is proud of themself, pulled themself back together and have now purchased a house, with life only looking up from here, despite a couple of medical issues.
Vicky, the care worker from Doncaster aspire was instrumental in my success, not in a way where she gave me the right answers, but over the course of a year her expertise in her field has guided and shone a mirror on myself, something which I previously thought was hopeless and terrifying, and allowed me to re-structure my brain and thought process, after every session I had with Vicky I came out of there with a new revelation, or something to keep in my head when I hit a rough patch (which I had a few of).
I believe if I hadn’t signed myself in to aspire, there would have been a good chance of me not being here today, and for that I’m forever grateful to Vicky and aspire in general, who have breathed a new life into me, for the first time in my life I feel truly happy and am comfortable with where I’m heading.
