I wanted to thank everyone who helped us to deliver our baby girl at the RIE. We were induced, using the balloon, then I was kept in overnight due to unexpected bleeding. I was then in another 2 nights, one giving birth in the labour ward and another in a ward at the birthing centre to recover.
Everyone who helped across those 3 stays was wonderful, from induction process through birthing through recovery. But special thanks to those in the labour ward, midwife Hannah, student Hannah, midwife Sian and and student Isabella. They really got us through.
We had a slightly protracted experience when I didn't progress past 4 cm after almost 12 hours and steadily increasing oxy. Good humour and support got us through. I was particularly impressed with how keen they were to know how *you* wanted things to go at the outset so they could help get towards that sort of birth.
Everyone was kind and helpful, but most importantly knew how to navigate the unexpected! Towards the end we also got Rachael in the room for delivery, who is worth her weight in gold. You could tell she'd seen it all and she guided everyone in the room through pushing, episiotomy, stitches etc. What a woman. Thanks all.
