"My father's care"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Cardiology Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Oncology Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Accident and emergency Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Cardiology

(as a relative),

My father was admitted following a heart condition. This had come on when he was attending the city oncology unit, as he had recently started a new chemotherapy regime. We would like to thank the following for their excellent care:

-The QMC ED consultant Dr Murphy, who was kind, caring, and also took the time to phone me personally to update me on my father's condition, as I am a medical professional and had some specific questions regarding his clinical condition. This was so appreciated and we are aware the department was very busy at the time. Thank you for going above and beyond, it was so reassuring both to my parents to know that I was in the loop, and for me to have an accurate picture of what was happening.

-The QMC cardiology ANP Harriet – she was kind, compassionate, and very clear about the treatment pathway. She came back repeatedly to see my father and this was much appreciated.

-The City oncology unit, who phoned my mum the following day to see how my father was doing – this was very kind at a stressful time.

-Alison, the oesophageal cancer specialist oncology nurse, who visited my father on the ward and liased with his oncology consultant to ensure everyone was in the loop about his admission

-The team on Papplewick Ward who were kind, compassionate and made sure my dad had access to suitable food on the ward

-Dr Tan, his consultant cardiologist, who was thorough, kind, and also managed a difficult situation when it arose, and ensured my father got appropriate care. We are very thankful for your oversight.

-Holly, the Papplewick senior nurse, who was incredibly helpful when I spoke to the ward about an issue and found the relevant information quickly for me quickly.

Thank you for your kind feedback regarding your father’s recent admission to our hospitals we are so pleased to hear that this has been your experience. We will of course pass this feedback on to the matron and ward manager of Papplewick Ward so that they are able to share this with the teams you have mentioned.

We would like to offer our sincere best wishes as your dad and your family face this treatment together.

Kind regards,

Kelly Morley – Patient Experience Officer.
