"Grateful for her expertise and skill"

About: Raigmore Hospital / Sexual and Reproductive Health service

(as a service user),

I was very nervous about having my Merina coil changed (for HRT purposes). The previous time, it had been successful but I felt very faint and nauseous and I was told I am a tricky case because of the position of my cervix and canal. 

Dr Lata put me at ease and while she wasn’t able to promise she would be successful with the removal and insertion of new coil she seemed optimistic. I knew she was very experienced. 

She has a brilliant bedside manner. She is straight talking but also kind, empathetic and knowledgeable. 

I was also grateful for the nurse who stood next to me, chatted and kept me thinking about something else while the procedure took place.

It was not pleasant but not as unpleasant as the last time. Thankfully Dr Lata was successful and she seemed as pleased as I was with how it went. 

I am grateful to her expertise and skill, to the kind support of the nurse and to our NHS for being able to offer the coil. 

Thankfully, it will be another five years before I need a replacement.
