"The work you do is absolutely outstanding"

About: Children & Young People Mental Health / Crisis Team Neurodiversity Services / Rotherham ASD (RAADS)

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter was referred into the children’s mental health service at the beginning of this year 2025. Due to her having ASD and ADHD, her mental health struggles have continued on and off over the last 8 months. Due to unmet needs she hasn’t been in school for the last 6 months and suffered ongoing mental health issues. We have been incredibly lucky to be supported by Paula who has offered support reassurance and someone who listens to my daughter.

She has a very friendly, kind but professional approach and quickly identified it would take my daughter longer to open up but this wasn’t a problem at all and Paula arrange another time to meet us. Since our first meet with Paula she has been there for us day and night for several months and I don’t know where we would be now without her.

We’ve spoken to several members of the crisis team and while all have been incredibly lovely and supportive non of them have understood my daughter like Paula. Paula also asked Fran to help with my daughter’s case due to us needing extra support and also needing support with getting her into a specialist provision. Fran has spoken to and met my daughter several times and again showed patience care and was also incredibly professional.

I would like to say a huge Thank You to all at CAMHS crisis team but mainly to Paula and Fran. The work you do is absolutely outstanding. We will always be so grateful for everything you’ve done

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your family’s experience with us. We can hear how much love, commitment and resilience you and your daughter have shown over what has clearly been a very difficult time. It takes real courage to speak so openly about the challenges of ASD, ADHD and mental health, and we are truly honoured to have been able to walk alongside you both.

We’re especially pleased to hear how Paula’s patient, kind and professional approach made such a difference. She recognised your daughter’s individual pace and needs and made sure she felt safe, listened to and supported. We’re also delighted that Fran’s involvement has provided you with extra help around specialist provision and that, together, they’ve been able to offer a consistent and caring presence for your family.

As a team we are deeply grateful for your words. Our goal is always to put young people and their families at the heart of what we do, and your feedback reassures us that we are making a positive difference. We will be sure to pass your thanks on to Paula, Fran and the whole crisis team – it means a great deal to them too.

Most importantly, thank you for trusting us with your daughter’s care. We know the journey is ongoing, but please remember we’re still here to listen and support both of you whenever needed.
