About: Northern Ireland Ambulance Service / Emergency ambulance response The Ulster Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Felt sick and couldn't' catch me breath. Couldn't walk the length of a room. Out of Hours said to ring for ambulance which I did then it took 6 hours to get to the hospital. Then spent 2 days in the A&E Wards before being transferred to the Respiratory Wards. N

Good afternoon defender44,

I would like to begin by thanking you for taking the time to share your experience of the Northern Ireland Ambulance Service. With regards to our response times please be assured that we are working closely with the Department of Health and the Strategic Planning and Performance Group to increase our available resources. We are also working with the local EDs to try to ensure that our patients can be handed over to hospital clinical teams as quickly as possible so that ambulance are able to respond to further emergencies.
