"I cannot praise the staff of this department highly enough"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Outpatients

(as a service user),

I’ve been attending QEUH General Outpatient department for the last year.

I’ve been a healthcare professional for over 40 years myself and seen some changes good and bad over that time.

However, I cannot praise the staff of this department highly enough. Thursday afternoons at the clinic are not only a tonic for the anxious and concerned patients but a credit to the NHS …. Glasgow banter at its best , staff interacting in a caring respectful manner but also introducing a lightness to the whole situation they find themselves in.

Last week there was a full on karaoke with staff and patients in the corridor, providing much needed distraction from what can be a real worrisome time for people, not to mention how busy the clinic is.

Thank you for all you do and keep doing it ! In a culture of blame ,claim and defensiveness , you bring light and hope for all who attend 🙏

I left feeling there is hope for the NHS ! With people who care like this it can work.

Dear verag

Thank you so much for your incredibly kind and thoughtful message.

It truly means a great deal to our team — especially coming from someone with such a long-standing background in healthcare. Your recognition of the care, humour, and professionalism shown by the staff at the QEUH General Outpatient Department is deeply appreciated.

We’re delighted to hear that your Thursday clinic visits have felt like a tonic rather than a trial. The Glasgow banter, the light-hearted karaoke moments, and above all the genuine compassion and respect shown by staff — these are all part of what we strive for: to create a supportive and uplifting environment, even during challenging times.

Your feedback captures the heart of what the NHS is about — people caring for people, in every sense of the word. We'll make sure your lovely comments are shared with the whole team at QEUH. They’ll be so pleased to know the impact they’ve had.

Thank you again for taking the time to write. We wish you all the very best in your continued care.

Kind regards

Kevin
