"Urgent care and Pharmacy"

About: Tiverton and District Hospital Tiverton and District Hospital / Pharmacy

(as the patient),

Came in to seek advice from pharmacy as I had an eye infection. They advised I go to urgent care to get checked over. When I went to the reception the member of staff I spoke to told me I hadn't been before, I explained I had and I had recently got married and changed name. They eventually found me on the system under old name, I explained I had changed name at the Drs and the NHS app had new name. I asked for advice on how to change this but they just told me to raise it when I was being seen. They didn't tell me to take a sit but then ignored me and came across as rude.

I was seen by a member of staff who quickly did an eye test and prescribed some lotion, they were amazing.

Went back to the pharmacy. Had to join along queue might be worth looking at having an area for people collecting repeat prescription from.

The member of staff at the counter was lovely and helped me as I could buy the cream cheaper over the counter then on prescription.

All in all a good experience apart from the member of staff I spoke to on reception.

Dear Birley123,

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

I’m so sorry to hear about the difficulties you faced when you arrived at reception — that’s not the welcome we would want anyone to receive. However, I'm pleased to hear that the staff member who carried out your eye test provided excellent care. We will make sure your comments are passed on to the team.

As the pharmacy is not managed by the Trust, unfortunately we are unable to comment on the provision of a dedicated area for collecting repeat prescriptions.

Thank you once again for your feedback, and I wish you all the best for your recovery.

Kindest regards,

Laura-Louise Middleton
