"By far the best staff we've come across!"

About: Royal Hospital for Children (Glasgow) / Outpatient Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My little girl had bloods taken today in the outpatients dept by S/N Arij. She was assisted by Senior S/N Fiona, St/N Kara and health play assistant Claire.

My little girl is autistic and can be quite overwhelmed having bloods taken and with too many people present.

The staff listened to me when I explained what works best for my daughter. This resulted in the bloods being taken on 1st attempt which meant less anxiety for my girl.

They were lovely to my other girl too and gave her some stickers.

By far the best staff we've come across in the treatment!

Dear Mumoftwo15

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your kind feedback following your recent visit to our Outpatients Department.

We’re absolutely delighted to hear that Sister Nurse Arij, Senior Sister Nurse Fiona, Student Nurse Kara, and Health Play Assistant Claire were able to make the experience a positive one for both your daughter and your family. We understand how important it is to tailor care to each child’s individual needs—especially when a child is autistic and may find certain situations overwhelming.

It’s wonderful to know the team took the time to listen, adapt, and ensure your daughter felt safe and supported, and that this helped make the procedure as smooth and stress-free as possible. We're also glad to hear your other daughter was made to feel included and left with a smile and some stickers!

We will be sure to pass on your lovely comments to the staff involved—they will be so pleased to know they made such a difference to your visit. Feedback like yours means a great deal to our teams and reinforces the importance of patient-centred care.

Thank you again, and we wish you and your family all the very best.

Kind regards

Kevin

Dear Mumoftwo15,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your kind feedback following your recent visit to our Outpatients Department.

I’m absolutely delighted to hear that your little girl had such a positive experience during what can understandably be a very overwhelming time. It’s wonderful to know that S/N Arij, Senior S/N Fiona, St/N Kara, and Play Assistant Claire were able to support your daughter in a way that respected her needs and helped her feel safe and calm. Listening to families and working in partnership is something we value deeply, and I’m so pleased this made a difference for your daughter.

It’s also lovely to hear that your other little one was made to feel included and cared for too, those small touches, like stickers, can mean so much.

I will make sure your kind words are shared with the team. Feedback like yours really boosts morale and reminds us why we do what we do.

Warmest regards,
Mhairi Stirrat
