"Support not given to a MH patient"

About: Cannock Chase Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

Day care surgery. I wore my sunflower landyard & badge, with information about my MH condition.

I was placed in a room, told someone would be with me soon. Waited. Could hear others being asked if they were ok, wanted a drink. No one came to me, only to do my obs & paperwork. Only person who actually understood me, was my consultant.

After surgery, no one explained about my after care. My name was shortened, without being asked if ok, to a name I really dislike.

Everyone assumed I was nervous about the operation. That wasn't the case, it was stress/anxiety, unfamiliar people/place, not knowing what was happening & not having my carer nearby, which I understand isn't always possible.

I felt no reassurance, support, understood, ignored, disrespected, uninformed, annoyed & hurt
