"Lack of care and compassion"

I have gestational diabetes and was told I needed to visit MPH to meet with a diabetic consultant to discuss my birth plan.

On arrival at MPH, my urine sample and readings were all taken, I then saw an obstetric consultant who asked me to discuss my previous pregnancy and what my ideal labour plan looked like, what my mental health was like and that I would see the diabetic team to discuss the diabetic side of the pregnancy. This was very distressing for me as I have significant birth trauma from my previous pregnancy.

My urine showed as having protein and leukocytes and that they would send them away as the week before they also showed leukocytes. They never sent these.

I went back to the waiting area and was then called through to see the dietician who told me to start using the app showing me their own diabetic record, to which I said I didn’t want to do that as Yeovil weren’t currently set up and my main diabetic were based there. They told me not to worry about the readings other than the morning as that was the main concern and I thought that was strange.

Despite being sent to Taunton to meet with a consultant to discuss my gestational diabetes, I was told I was not seeing anyone and that the diabetic consultants do not work Wednesdays and that I had seen the right people. I was told by a member of staff that I was wrong (they were very rude) and that I had seen a consultant (obstetric) and the dietician and that was all they offered. I also asked for a new sharps bin and was told they would not give me one and to call my GP, although my GP had told me to speak with the hospital.

I was also told I would have to be induced at 39 weeks as I take metformin and if I went to insulin then induced at 38 weeks. The whole experience was awful and the lack of care and compassion from MPH has left me worried about my delivery there.
