"Amazing Labour & Delivery Team"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Delivery Suite Antrim Area Hospital / EOU Emergency Obstetric Unit Antrim Area Hospital / Ward C2 Maternity care

(as a service user),

I gave birth to my little girl end of August after 27 hours of labour.

From meeting Lacie in EOU who was such a calming presence to being transferred to birthing suite I felt completely calm and secure throughout my labour. I had really wanted minimal intervention which I felt the midwife team truly respected.

I had undertaken hypnobirthing classes and had asked in my birthing plan that any intervention was explained to me which the team were amazing at doing. The midwife looking after me throughout the night made the environment peaceful and catered to my needs whilst giving my partner and I space.

Unfortunately, I made little progression throughout the night and my babies heart rate started to drop. The entire team including midwives and Drs were incredible at talking me through the process of a Kiwi delivery, the ward sister showed such compassion when guiding me through the 3rd phase of labour and my daytime midwife was so kind and gave me so much dignity whilst aiding in my initial postpartum recovery. Despite this not being my initial birth plan I felt empowered by the decisions I made making this such a positive birth experience.

I really appreciate the care I received in Antrim birthing suite and each individual who helped me bring my little girl safely into the world

Dear Cmmk,

Congratulations on the birth of your little girl!

Thankyou for taking the time to complete a response about the care you received in Antrim Area Maternity. I am so pleased to read that you felt calm, supported and respected throughout your birthing journey, even when the plan changed from your initial birthplan.

It is really lovely to read that the team, from Lacie in EOU to the midwives, doctors and the Birthing suite Sister were able to provide the reassurance and compassions that you needed at each stage.

I will ensure that your kinds are shared with those who you have mentioned. They will really value receiving this feedback.

Congratulations again and best wishes to you all

Louisa Lapworth
