"Kind, reassuring and practical guidance and advice"

About: Community Services - North Devon / Community Rehabilitation

(as a relative),

I have been so worried about my Mum. She is in her 80s and starting to struggle with things, but at the same time very independent and brave. She still tries her best to lead her life without depending on others or asking for much help, however she was losing her confidence after a few falls and hurting her back.

When Lami came into our lives my mum was adamant that she didn't want any support and could do everything alone, but Laminde's (Lami's) kind, gentle, yet very professional ways have helped my Mum regain her self confidence, strengthen her back, help her walk more confidently and safely and have faith in help and care from others. Lami has been so much support for our family in these difficult moments to try to understand what is best and safe for our Mum. She has been a key and valuable part of our team. I really needed her too as someone who is new to caring and isn't always listened to by my Mum.

Lami has done so much more than help with a situation, she has moved the situation forward. Thank you Lami! You are wonderful and have helped us so much. I really was stuck and worried and now I feel hope that there are people like you to reach out to. You delivered kind, reassurring and very practical guidance and advice.

Thank you so much for taking the time to send feedback about the support your mum has received from the Bideford Community Rehab team, and especially her physiotherapist, Lami.

I am so sorry to hear you and your mum have been having such a tough time. It is very frightening to find yourselves in this situation after years of independence.

I am so pleased to hear Lami was able to provide the support, encouragement and education your mum needed to help with her rehabilitation and rebuild her confidence. I will pass on your very kind feedback to Lami and the rest of the team. Caring for someone can be very challenging and daunting, and the Community Rehab team will always do our best to provide advice and support and signpost people to the correct services, so please don't hesitate to ask for further help if needed.

I'm so pleased things sound much better for your mum and yourself and I hope this continues.

Many thanks

Susan
