"My Husband's care"

About: Cameron Hospital / Recovery & rehabilitation

(as a relative),

My Husband spent a little over 11 weeks in Letham Ward Cameron Hospital. My first impression was not good due to one member of staff who was very rude. The other staff (all of them) are very nice nothing is a bother to them.

There was a student nursed named Sam he was very good and me us laugh ,if he was on duty and I went home I knew my Husband would be ok.

If I needed any information and things done quickly I went to Claire or Sarah Jane as they are both on the ball. I actually would prefer if these two did not get time off.

There is a quiet and calm atmosphere on the ward with a break in it with staff laughing which is nice to hear. The food is really awful and doesn't look good, my Husband has lost weight.

The toilets/shower rooms are awful in this ward , I don't understand why as this is a Rehab Ward .

Physio has been great they really know their stuff, I was over the moon when they got my Husband walking again . Overall the time spent here was good, and there is a lovely garden on the entrance to relax in .

Thankyou to all the staff and well done

Dear Mercuryy48

My name is Owen and I am one of the charge nurses here in Letham. I am sorry that a member of staff was rude when you first came into you visit your husband after he has admitted. I would be open to discussing this further if you wish to either contact me at the ward on 01592 226716 or by email at owen.gibb@nhs.scot.

I am glad to hear that you had a good relationship with Sam, Claire and Sarah Jane as well as the rest of the staff.

I'm glad that you felt the ward had a nice atmosphere which was calm and relaxing.

I'm sorry to hear about the food not being appealing and that as a result your husband had lost weight due a lack of intake. I will hand your concerns over to the catering department to make them aware.

For your concern regarding the toilets and shower I will inform estates to make them aware that you feel that they are not fit for purpose.

I'm glad to hear that the physiotherapist were able to get your husband walking again after his stroke.

I am also glad to hear that your overall experience in Letham was positive.

I wish your husband all the best on his ongoing recovery at home and please do not hesitate to get incontact to discuss your concerns

Many thanks

Owen Gibb
