"Concerned about the weight of the doors"

About: Dundee Dental Hospital / Paediatric Dentistry

(as a service user),

We had an appointment with the undergraduate clinic on level 5.  My daughter was well cared for by the dental students with nice explanations during the appointment. The staff members were attentive. Overall a good experience and treatment was provided the same day.

I was, however, concerned about the weight of the doors to get in and out of the clinic waiting area. I’m a surveyor by trade and  (although there was a warning sign) the door required an adult full force behind to open. Certainly not appropriate for a children’s clinic.  Any children without an adult or adults with disabilities might very much struggle to get in.

Many thanks for providing this feedback and I am really pleased to hear that your daughter had a great experience with our undergraduate students. I will be sure to pass your feedback on to the relevant team. It is always nice for our clinical teams to hear postivie feedback from service users. Thank you for highlighting your concerns reference the weight of the doors leading in to the department. These doors were recently replaced as part of a site wide fire door replacement project and we are aware that there are a few concerns with these doors. These doors are currently being investigated by the external contractor who completed the project and we would hope to have this matter rectified in the near future.
