After a year on the waiting list to be seen by Gynaecology, I saw a doctor at Raigmore.
I had been having pain with my coil, and they checked it and said it looked fine. A few days later I had a scan (not organised by Gynaecology) that showed the coil was sitting in my cervix and had warped. It was taken out at that time.
I attended sexual health to get a new coil, however it was explained to me that as I had previously had an endometrial ablation, a coil would have to be inserted under hysteroscopy. I was referred back to Gynaecology for this.
Despite my appointment letter saying a different doctor's name, I saw the same doctor again who, despite policy being to insert under hysteroscopy, tried to insert a coil at that appointment. This was very painful and they could not get it in. There was blood on the sheet afterwards and I had bleeding and bad cramping for days afterwards.
I was told that I would be referred for a hysteroscopy, as I should have been in the first place, but there may be a wait.
Months later I received an appointment in the post, which was then rescheduled, and then cancelled. I was asked if I would visit the Golden Jubilee in Clydebank for this.
I agreed and drove the 3.5 hours there to find that I was referred for a pelvic and transvaginal ultrasound, not hysteroscopy. The radiographer could not read the handwriting on the referral and had to ask me what I thought things could mean.
I am still without a coil and get bad pain that requires strong painkillers. This has been the case for many months.
When my radiology report is sent back to Raigmore and I am given an appointment, I will be asking for a different doctor as I have no confidence in the one I saw after my experience.
"No confidence in doctor"
