"Women's Group started my journey"

About: Inclusion Isle of Wight

(as a service user),

When I first came in to treatment, it was the women's group I was coming to. This helped me get engaged & gain some confidence in joining group settings & being around other people.

From there I started attending the other groups - like RITS & R&R, then on to the fellowships also. I tried a bit of everything to be honest!

This gave me the confidence to put myself forward for volunteering here at Inclusion. Two years ago I completed my induction for volunteering which has been keeping me busy & giving me  purpose ever since. I have completed loads of training including acupuncture, that I now lead clinics in. I have had loads of support  & encouragement along the way from all the staff here.
I especially owe gratitude to Matt S, the volunteer coordinator, who has helped me get to where I am. Also, Kieron, my Key Worker, who has given me nothing but support & encouragement.
I am now reaching the end of my OST treatment programme and hope to continue & progress as far as I possibly can whilst learning new skills & being in a work environment in general.
I now co-facilitate the Women's group (Wednesday, 11.30-1)  that started this journey for me. I have to shake myself everyday to believe that I am where I am & how far I have come.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this valuable feedback, I'm glad you found the space in Women's group that helped to build your confidence to try new groups and grow into your recovery with attending outside support from the fellowships and eventually on to volunteering and leading the acupuncture clinics at Inclusion.

It's empowering to see that you not only take part in your recovery but embraced the journey of self discovery and learning and have taken this forward to now help others who are starting out on their own path.

we are pleased that you have felt supported by the staff especially Matt and Kieron, I will pass this on to the management and individual workers as I'm sure they will be overjoyed to hear they have had such a positive impact on your journey.

Thanks again for sharing your story and wish you all the best as you continue in your new life and hope the final stages of your OST go well.

All the best from all of us at Inclusion:-)
