"Not been seen by a Doctor"

About: Modality Partnership

(as a relative),

Husband walked into our GP surgery, Modality Keighley to make an appointment to see a Doctor.

He was informed by the receptionist to complete an online request.

He informed them he doesn't and can't use technology.

He was informed to get a family member to do it for him and for them to also take a photo of the body part he was concerned about.

He was absolutely disgusted and frustrated and left the surgery.

He then visited the 2nd partner surgery.

The 2 receptionists on duty were busy on keyboards. He waited 10 minutes and no one attended so he left.

He wants to be independent and not dependent on anyone and that's his choice which I totally agree.

This digital world has no part in my husband's life, he doesn't want to know anything about it, yet we feel he's being digitally manipulated by Modality.

Due to this disgraceful situation I completed and submitted a Modality complaint.

I received an acknowledgement message re complaint.

Within 3 days I received a message from the patient experience team at Modality thanking me and stating that they were unable to bypass the appointment system in the main office by they would pass the request back to the practice.

The following day my husband received a message asking him to attend the first surgery. The receptionist completed an online form and took a photo of the body part he was concerned about.

Later the same day he was sent a text message telling him to attend the 2nd surgery and collect prescribed medication.

He realised it was the same medication previously prescribed over a year ago that had no effect at all.

My point is -

He wanted to be seen by a Doctor and he wasn't. Bearing in mind he has "Whitecoat syndrome" fear of medical intervention.

If he had have been seen he would have informed the Doctor the previous medication had no effect then a repeat prescription would not have been prescribed.

Therefore I feel this has been a complete waste of time for my husband going back and forth to the surgeries involved. A waste of resources and financial expenditure regards the repeat prescribed medication.

He has a basic human right to be cared for when the need arises and he hasn't been provided with person centred care.

This has obviously caused emotional turmoil and utter frustration for him, myself and extended family.

I am absolutely appalled to say the least.

So what happens now :-

The medication prescribed isn't going to help so he is back at the beginning and no further forward with his health & wellbeing and probably further deterioration to the infected area!
