"For the first time in a long time I have hope!"

About: Community Services (AMH) / Primary Care Mental Health–East

(as a service user),

Living with depression and anxiety for 25plus years with a sense that underneath was something else.

I have sought help over years for persistent depression and anxiety, quite debilitating in my experience. After a long time trying to seek the help (not medication or talking therapy) I felt I needed and a complete distrust of being given the correct help, I thankfully found a lady that took time on the phone to help me understand how she could help me.

The lady is Hannah and I really wish to express my gratitude at receiving the help she has given me on my emotions and understanding, or in my case my great lack of understanding my own emotions! I now feel I'm not a lost cause and this has given me a little light in a big dark tunnel. The tips on dealing with arising emotions I have found very beneficial and will continue to practise.

To Ben also like to express my gratitude for helping me to not isolate, he found me a great place to do some art therapy, which helps me hugely. Without this team I didn't feel I had hope. For the first time in a long time I have hope! Thank you 🙏

Good morning Tma74

Firstly, I would like to start by saying a very big thank you for leaving us such wonderful feedback. Receiving feedback of any kind is so important to us as it helps us to continue to shape the service we provide to the people of Doncaster.

Hearing feedback like yours drives us forward and reminds us, why we do what we do, so I really do thank you for this. I will ensure that not only Hannah and Ben see this lovely feedback, but I will also share it with the wider team.

Learning to understand your emotions can often be a difficult process but it sounds like all your hard work has paid off and you have moved through that dark tunnel, so well done, keep using the tools you have learnt and enjoy the bright future ahead, you deserve it after 25 years of living with the debilitating illness that is depression and anxiety.

Thank you once again.

Jo
