I had a radical hysterectomy for endometrial cancer in April this year. This left me with loss of fitness & confidence in my body as well as ongoing pelvic pain.
I was referred by the Macmillan support team to the physio team at my local hospital in Ottery St Mary for a course of core strengthening work, which I believe is funded by Macmillan.
I have just completed this 8 week course, along with a small group of other women recovering from gynaecology cancers.
I am incredibly grateful to the Ottery physio team who showed us targeted exercises to rebuild strength & flexibility & really helped us on our way to healing & recovery.
Their kindness & skills helped us all feel so much better & more optimistic & positive about healing & strengthening our bodies again.
In particular the exercises have helped my pelvic pain by strengthening & stretching the core muscles around my stomach & pelvis.
I can now continue with the programme of exercises at home with exercise sheets provided by the team.
