"I was listened to and trusted that “I knew best”"

About: Maternity care / Community Midwives Maternity care / Consultant Led Unit

(as a service user),

My son was born recently and from the community midwife Debbie to the midwife who delivered my son Dayna, and every midwife and consultant in between (Saskia, Dr Cook, charge midwife Ashleigh). They were all phenomenal.

They looked & considered my birthing plan, acknowledging concerns from previous births and ensured these weren’t repeated.

I was listened to and trusted that “I knew best” throughout the birth and it truly made the whole birth a lot easier and such a good experience. Post-natal has also been easier and I think this is down to how supported I’ve been throughout my pregnancy by the community midwife Debbie, and giving birth.

Genuinely can’t thank the team on the consultant lead unit enough.

Congratulations Moonstar90 on the birth of your son. I am glad to hear the postnatal period is going well and you're both doing well.

I have emailed your kind words to the staff named and I am sure it will make their day. Pregnancy labour and birth is such a monumental and personal journey that can be both extremely powerful and vulnerable all at the same time. Feeling heard, acknowledged and given the correct information is vital for you to be able to make the decisions best suited for you and your family. I am glad that you had that positive experience and that you also took the time to acknowledge the staff who aided in that.

Thank you.

Enjoy your family
