"Born to be a midwife"

About: Antrim Area Hospital / Delivery Suite

(as the patient),

I had an excellent experience being looked after by Rebekah during the birth of my first baby.

Rebekah, who had just started her shift, came into the delivery suite and immediately made myself and my husband feel at ease by making the room feel cosy and calm with dimmed lighting/music etc.

Unfortunately my birth did not go to plan (back to back baby, failure to progress past first stage, sepsis) but Rebekah was so attentive and made sure to we were fully informed of what was happening and our choices.

I was really unsettled and emotional once the decision was made to deliver via emergency c section, but she left me feeling much more comfortable, calm and confident that it was right decision for myself and my baby.

Rebekah is born to be a midwife and we couldn't be more thankful for all her help.

Dear claire162,

Thankyou so much for taking the time to share your recent experience in our birthing suite at Antrim Hospital and Congratulations on the birth of your baby.

I am delighted to hear that your received such excellent care and support from Rebekah from what sounded like a challenging time for you and your husband. It is lovely to read that her calming approach made a real difference to you both, especially when your birth didn't go as you had planned.

I will make sure that your feedback is shared with Rebekah and the rest of the team. It is very motivating for the team to hear such feedback and reinforces what a difference they can make.

Wishing you all the best

Regards,

Louisa Lapworth
